Picking sunflower seeds at Our Playhouse Preschool, Durham

A student at Our PlayHouse Chapel Hill explores the structure of a sunflower seed head for a class project.

THE FIRST THING YOUR CHILD WILL NEED
IS A CHANGE OF CLOTHES

We believe that children are active participants in their own learning.

That’s why we encourage them to ask questions, to explore the world around them, and to share what they discover. It’s why we develop our classroom projects based on the interests of the children themselves. And it’s why we like them to get dirty. (In order to learn about the world, sometimes you’ve got to play in the dirt!)

CHILDREN AND TEACHERS LEARN TOGETHER

The key to successful learning is not the one-way flow of information from teacher to student, but the dynamic exchange of wisdom between the child and their teacher; the child and their peers; and the child and the world around them.

REGGIO-INSPIRED, PROJECT-BASED PRESCHOOLS IN DURHAM AND CHAPEL HILL

With two locations – one in the historic White Cross School outside of Carrboro/Chapel Hill, the other in a beautiful wooded setting in Durham – our environments are designed to promote exploration, adventure and productive play.

Our PlayHouse serves children ages 1-5 years in our preschool and kindergarten classrooms. Please let us know if you’d like to come for a visit or submit an application.

We look forward to meeting you.
